Gamer Update 4/2 – Leisurely Gaming

tomb raider bloodyWell, the March gauntlet of games/reviews has finally come to a close. I ended up hitting the mark and reviewing all nine of the games I set out to review, so view the backlogs of my past reviews to check them all out. There were some really good games I got the pleasure of playing, like Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, but also some less than amazing games like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirrors of Fate. Oh well, ’tis the life of a game reviewer!

Now that I am done with that massive flood of reviews, I plan on playing a lot more games just for the sake of enjoying them. For me personally, this entails finally finishing Tomb Raider, which is a really good game, but isn’t groundbreaking in my opinion…more on that at a later time probably. I’m also getting back into Dragon’s Dogma in preparation for the Dark Arisen update/expansion I should be receiving for review from Capcom.

Games to review for April, along with their Wikipedia/Game Wiki descriptions for your convenience:

Defiance – “A science-fiction-themed persistent world MMO third-person shooter from Trion WorldsDefiance takes place on a terraformed Earth several decades into the future. It is a tie in to the Syfy show of the same name. The game is set to be released April 2013 for Microsoft Windows,PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[1] It was also released on Steam.[2]

dark arisen picDragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen – “An upcoming re-release of the original game containing new content to be released by Capcom in 2013. The game was revealed at the 2012 Tokyo Game Show. This release contains the full original Dragon’s Dogma game, but with additions such as new enemies, quests, locations, character customization and weapons and armor.”

Soul Sacrifice – “Aaction role-playing video game developed by Marvelous AQL and Japan Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for PlayStation Vita. It will be released worldwide throughout 2013 on March 7 in Japan, April 30 in North America and May 1 in Europe.

The core mechanic of the game is the ability to sacrifice parts of the character’s body or items to create devastating attacks. These sacrifices will be permanently marked on the player character’s body, meaning that they are not an infinite resource that can be tapped into.[1] Its release in North America and Europe has been confirmed for April 30 and May 1 respectively. [2][3] The concept was created by Keiji Inafune, best known for co-designing Mega Man.”

Well, there you go. I am going to try and do more regular updates as things happen, hopefully, as well. Do you plan on checking out any of these upcoming or newly released games?
