Work/Client History

Note: This page is very outdated. For an updated look at my most recent writing, please visit my Contently Portfolio.

Over the years, I have worked with various different outlets as a gaming writer. I have written news stories, game reviews, product reviews, game previews, editorial pieces, featured article series, produced video content, conducted interviews and much more. Below you will find a list of all sources of my experience, along with a description of my duties at each individual outlet.

Valkyrie PR
Co-Founder and Managing Director (Created October 2013, Currently on Hold)
Valkyrie PR is a PR, Marketing and Business Solutions studio for independent game developers. We offer a wide range of services such as press releases, media contact, asset distribution, business consulting and indie game marketing. As a Managing Director, my responsibilities consist of contacting clients, maintaining client relationships, coordinating media coverage, providing services and everything in between.

The Koalition
Senior Editor (April 2011 – Present) –
This is where I got my start. I began as a news contributor and worked my way into the Senior Editor position. I wrote all types of articles and had complete creative freedom. I am also the primary contributor to the PC gaming and indie content and host the RPG focused podcast: Turn Based.

Freelance Game Reviewer and Contributor (December 2013 – Present) –
After pitching the managing editor for months on end, I finally broke into this outlet, which is great. It’s one of the largest and most popular MMO sites or general gaming sites in the world with millions of views. My first assignment was writing a preview for a small-sized MMO game and I eventually worked my way into full reviews and more. Payment is distributed on an assignment-by-assignment basis with fixed rates.

Gaming Dragons
Freelance PC Game Video Reviewer (July 2013 – August 2013) –
I was paid to play newly released PC games, record footage, write a review and produce a full video review of the game. This position was simply on an assignment-by-assignment basis.

Freelance Writer (May 2013 – July 2013) –
I started pitching freelance article ideas to MMOSite in May of 2013. Topics revolve around MMOs (of course) and specifically PC MMOs. The site has a strong community and gets lots of traffic, so this was a big move for me. I continue to submit article ideas and plan on working my way up the payment tiers.

PlayStation University
Interim Editor-in-Chief (November 2012 – March 2013) –
I took over this site after it had laid dormant for several months and had been slowly declining over the previous year. I was in charge of all site content, PR and company contact, hiring writers and pretty much everything. This was only a temporary position. There are no plans to contribute to PSUni again in the future.

The Firm-Guide
Freelance Game Journalist (October 2012 – February 2013) –
I was hired as a freelancer to contribute occasionally on gaming. Contributions primarily consisted of news stories, along with editorial and opinion based pieces. May return to writing for this site once time permits, the EiC is a great guy.

The Examiner
Dallas PC Games Examiner (November 2012 – January 2013) –
I contribute on an occasional basis to The Examiner, specifically focused on PC gaming and the Dallas area. This was one of my first forays into freelancing/branching out from just The Koalition as an outlet. I have taken a break submitting things to Examiner, but may return in the future.
